About 10 months ago I decided to start creating and selling After Effects templates via Videohive so as to have a small amount of passive income to cover my expenses whilst me and my girlfriend went travelling around South East Asia.
This has proved to be a pretty good investment of my time and I am currently sat comfortably in the top 100 Videohive authors. With my first year on the Hive drawing to a close at the end of next month, I can see a projected first year income of around £18000. Not bad considering the total work put into this would rack up to no more than four or five weeks.
Also, as an extra encouragement to anyone considering the venture into template sales, I have to say, there is no better feeling than being sat on a beach with a mojito in hand, knowing it is being paid for by income being generated 24/7 without having to lift a finger… except when you need a top up.
It is my intention to spend a lot more time blogging about this over the coming months and to provide some tips and advice on how to setup your own passive income stream via Videohive. With the current climate I think it is definitely in everybody’s interest to setup another source of income away from your 9 till 5, be this after effects templates or another method, hopefully you will find some inspiration in my ramblings to make a start.
In classic ‘I haven’t got a clue as to how long this will take to get written up’ fashion… watch this space. I will be posting updates on my blog as well as on facebook and twitter.
